About IEEE AAST Alex Student Branch
The Arab Academy for Science and Technology (AAST), Alexandria IEEE Student Branch was established back in 2002 by the hard work of only 4 engineering student volunteers, who believed that the students of our college can achieve much more if their fellow students offer them the opportunity to participate in more student activities and widen their horizon through organizing engineering events. Ever since, our student branch has been growing in popularity, experience and number of volunteers.
Now, AAST Alex student branch has grown to be one of the most recognized IEEE student branches in Egypt Section, due to the contribution of more than 40 volunteers who dedicate lots of their time to it. Throughout the years, our student branch has set its goal to enrich the university experience to all the Engineering and non-Engineering students of the AAST, as well as to reduce the gap between the university life and the career market for them to ensure a smooth transfer. That's why our branch has organized more than 100 of wide variety of events, conferences, trips and ventures of various lengths, topics, target audience, speakers and structures.
Our vision is divided into four main parts:
- Get old and new engineering students to spend their free time in something useful and to enrich their soft and technical skills.
- Shorten the gap between the industrial and academic life of students through sessions, Workshops, speeches, etc…
- Educate students and IEEE members about IEEE and help them get the maximum of its benefits.
Enhance the technical part of students’ lives through engaging them in real life technical issues
Leading Your Career, Leading Your Society" Conference
Our annual events include (but not only) "Leading Your Career, Leading Your Society" conference
since 2002. Every "Leading Your Career, Leading Your Society", we have a different target and theme. One of our most successful S-PAVs that we held was LYC 2013. It targeted Electrical and Computer Engineering graduates in order to stretch their knowledge during their undergraduate years and recharge their batteries. An article, highlights LYC 2013, was published in IEEE Region 8 News magazine.
In June 2013, IEEE AAST Alex SB with the association of BlackBerry Jam Egypt held "BlackBerry
Jam" session for first time in Alexandria at the Arab academy for science and technology - Alexandria. BlackBerry Jam is for developers who aim to provide new skills, support the development of locally relevant content and give promising entrepreneurs more opportunities to reach BlackBerry customers around the world.
Vodafone Egypt training
In May 2013, in cooperation with Vodafone Egypt, we held a training program for students of the
electronics and communications engineering department. The training covered various topics including mobile communications. Due to the large number of applicants, there were many phases of filtration before the training done by our HR team and Vodafone HR team.

A great number of environment engineers, professors, and environment activists from all over the world are gathered to present their latest researches about the climate and the environment, share their knowledge and find solutions for the Global Climate Change problems.
ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle)
An ROV is a remotely operated vehicle that performs tasks underwater instead of divers. That is done through a series of mechanical, communication and control implementations. The regional competition took place for the second time at the Arab academy for science and technology and was organized by our branch and sponsored by “Hadath” Company.
